Most children's stories start with once upon a time, and end in happily ever after. However, for a lot of children and their families this just isn't the case. Please read Ruby's story.
A charity based in Congleton, Cheshire, England is raising money to build a multi-sensory studio for those with additional needs. A multi-sensory studio will provide a safe and appropriate place for those with additional need to explore and develop.
Ruby was born on 8th July 2007. She was a healthy weight of 8lb 11oz. Initially everything appeared to be fine with no significant problems. However after genetic testing Ruby was diagnosed with a very rare condition called Isodicentric_15.
Some of the symptoms Ruby has are: seizures, hypotonia, fine and gross motor delays, cognitive difficulties, sensory and processing disorder, behavioural issues, speech/language delays, and living independently in the future is almost impossible.
Ruby is now 3 and a half. She is continuing to progress very slowly.
Ruby's Fund will provide a rich variety of learning experiences and leisure time for those with additional needs to ensure that they will meet their full potential. Ruby's Fund will uncover and encourage the gifts and talents present in everybody.
